Itinerary

Day 1Arrival and Transfer from Lima Airport to Hotel

Upon your arrival at Lima Airport, a Peru Ancestral Paths representative will warmly welcome you. We will ensure a comfortable transfer from the airport to your selected hotel in Lima. After settling in, you might explore the nearby attractions or relax and prepare for the thrilling journey ahead.

Day 2Ballestas Islands, Paracas, and Huacachina Oasis Full Day

We will start early, picking you up from your hotel between 4:20 and 4:50 AM for a day filled with adventure. First, we will visit the tranquil beach resort of Paracas. Here, we will catch a boat to the Ballestas Islands.

On the way, we will see the mysterious geoglyph “El Candelabro” and learn about its intriguing theories. We will circle the islands, observing the sealions, Humboldt penguins, and various seabirds in their natural habitat.

After returning to the mainland, we’ll browse the Paracas Boulevard and the local craft market for souvenirs. Next, we head to Ica, where we’ll tour a traditional vineyard. We’ll learn about wine and pisco production and enjoy a tasting session.

We will then proceed to the mesmerizing Huacachina Oasis. Here, we will engage in an exciting buggy tour on the sand dunes and try sandboarding, sliding down the slopes for an adrenaline rush. The day ends with a visit to the Racimo de Uva winery in Chincha for an Afro-Peruvian cultural show. We will be getting back to Lima at 17:30, arriving at 22:30 to our hotel.

Day 3Transfer from Lima to Cusco and City Tour

Early in the morning, we will transfer you from the hotel in Lima to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival in Cusco, we will greet you and escort you to your hotel. Enjoy a cup of traditional coca tea to help acclimatize to the higher altitude. After some rest, our city tour starts at 1:30 PM.

We will visit the iconic Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun) and the Convent of Santo Domingo. This  showcases exquisite Inca architecture and colonial art.

Our tour continues to the impressive Sacsayhuaman fortress, where massive stones create a monumental site linked to Inca ceremonies. We will also explore Qenqo, Puca-Pucara, and Tambomachay. Each offers a unique glimpse into Inca history and culture.

Day 4Super Sacred Valley Tour with Connection to Aguas Calientes

Our journey through the Super Sacred Valley begins early, with hotel pickup from 6:00 to 7:00 AM. We will first explore the charming village of Chinchero. Is known for its Inca ruins and colonial church with intricate gold-leaf altars. Here, you will also witness traditional textile weaving by local artisans.

Next, we venture to Moray, a site of concentric terraces used by the Incas as an agricultural experiment station.

Our next stop is the Salineras de Maras, where we will learn about the salt extraction process that remains. A guided explanation of the salt mines’ cultural significance will enhance your understanding of local traditions. After a scenic drive, we’ll arrive in Urubamba to savor a buffet lunch featuring the region’s finest produce.

Post-lunch, we’ll visit the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, admiring its grand terraces and intricate stone constructions. We conclude the day by boarding a scenic train to Aguas Calientes, preparing for our Machu Picchu adventure.

Day 5Explore Machu Picchu and Return to Cusco

After breakfast in Aguas Calientes, we’ll take a 35-minute bus ride up a winding road to Machu Picchu. The guided tour of this iconic Inca city will cover major landmarks such as the Main Plaza.

Also, the Circular Tower, the Intihuatana (Sun Dial) and the Royal Quarters. As well the Temple of Three Windows, and sacred burial grounds. Your guide will explain the historical and cultural significance of each site during this two-hour tour.

Afterward, you’ll have free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. You might hike to the Sun Gate or the Inca Bridge.

Optionally, you can climb Huayna Picchu for breathtaking views (additional cost fo $75.00). In the afternoon, we will return by train to Ollantaytambo, then transfer back to Cusco. This trip reflects a day full of awe-inspiring sights.

Day 6Rainbow Mountain Tour and Transfer to Cusco Airport

We will start early at 4:00 AM, traveling for two hours to our breakfast spot. Afterward, we’ll drive another hour to the trailhead for the trek to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). We will pass by striking landscapes and possibly spotting local wildlife such as alpacas and llamas.

The two-hour hike leads us to the summit at 5,200 meters (17,060 feet). This is where you’ll see vibrant mineral-rich colors of the mountain.

After soaking in the views, we’ll walk an additional 30 minutes to the rarely visited Red Valley. This offers another layer of stunning vistas. We’ll then return to the bus, head back to the restaurant for lunch, and finally, drive back to Cusco.

We will be in the city at 17:00 approximately. Your trip concludes with a transfer from your hotel to Cusco Airport.
