Useful Information

Information

Before booking your Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley Tour, consider the following factual information. The best time to go on this hike is during the dry season, from April to October.

Weather conditions are more stable. In any other time of year the sudden rain is a problem. During the dry season the colors of the Rainbow Mountain are enhanced.

High altitude is a significant challenge on the Rainbow Mountain tour. Starting at about 4,300 (14,108 ft) meters and peaking at 5,000 meters (16,404 ft). Altitude sickness can affect anyone at this altitude. The Rainbow Mountain tour operators will advise on how to minimize altitude sickness.

Acclimatization in Cusco for at least two days before the hike must be mandatory. Your guide is always ready in case of an emergency. But that scenario is something we want to avoid.

Safety is paramount. Follow all guidelines provided by your tour guide during the Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley Tour. The terrain can be slippery if wet. Prepare for sudden weather changes, which are common in the area.
