Itinerary

Day 1Welcome in Lima Airport

Peru Ancestral Paths will make sure you are accompanied every step in the way. In special for your Lima Peru tour Packages with Ica and Cusco. We’ll receive you at the airport to take you to your hotel. You will have time to rest or explore the city for the day.

Day 2Paracas and Huacachina Oasis

This trip to Peru will have adventure, nature and more on just this day. We’ll be picking you up from your hotel between 4:20 – 4:50 am. We’ll transport you to the Paracas touristic boulevard. 

From there, we’ll go to the tourist port to embark us into the sea. We’ll visit the Ballestas islands (Islas Ballestas). The Chandelier geoglyph will be a view too.

Finally we’ll observe the old guano extraction place. During the boat ride we’ll encounter impressive rock formations and marine fauna.

Sea lions will be there laying under the sun. We may encounter wild Humbotld penguins. Marine birds will be a constant companion on this ride. You can encounter even more inhabitants of the Pacific Ocean.

Back on shore, we’ll visit the boulevard as well as a local craft market. We’ll go on our private transport from Paracas to Ica.

There, we’ll visit the “Bodega Nietto” vineyard. This is an educational experience about the wine and pisco making process. At the end we’ll taste test vine and pisco products.

Next is the visit to the famous Oasis of The Huacacchina. You can opt for some adventure sports activities. Like the buggie ride on the dunes, or sandbarding.

Finally at night we’ll go to a cultural show. In Chincha we’ll witness an afro-peruvian artistic show. The show is interactive so prepare. Finally we’ll return to Lima at 5:30 pm.

You’ll probably be at your hotel by 10:30 pm.

Day 3Flight from Lima to Cusco, Cusco City Tour

Peru ancestral paths will take care of your transportation during your travel to Peru. We’ll take you to the airport in our vehicle. We’ll make sure you board your flight to Cusco. And in Cusco our staff will be there to welcome you and give you the ride to your hotel.

Depending on the arrival time, you have time to rest. At 1:30 pm you will be picked up by our team because we are going on a Cusco City tour. This will be your first experience under the Andes Mountains.

We’ll visit the Temple of the Sun or Koricancha and the Church of Santo Domingo that lies on top of it. A really fascinating complex in the middle of the city.

Soon we’ll leave the city center to go to the big inca Archeological sites near the city. Sacsayhuaman is one of the biggest archaeological sites in Cusco. You will be guided through all these sites.

We will visit Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. These were important ritual sites that showcased different aspects of the religious life of the Incas. Puca Pucara in particular was a control point for the Inca Trail. In Inca times, what we know now as the Inca trail was part of a net of paths that connected all the empire.

After this 4 hour excursion, we’ll take you back to your hotel. You can rest for the day.

Day 4Sacred Valley and Train to Ollantaytambo

Our hotel pick up will be between 6 – 7 am. So wake up early to start this adventure. All day we’ll have private transportations at our service. 

The first place to visit will be Chinchero. This small town has some impressive colonial buildings. 

The Chinchero Church is on top of an inca foundation. Its interior shows beautiful baroque art and decorations. We’ll watch the Inca agricultural terraces and textile demonstrations. 

Moray is our next stop. This place offers its circular concentric terraces that go down the earth. This inca site used to be an agricultural experimental center. Near there are the Maras Salt Mines or the Salineras.

Our visit to the Maras Salt Mines will teach you about the salt mining process. These salt mines have been harvested since pre-inca times. The view is impressive.

Our lunch will be in the town of Urubamba. This is a buffet lunch in a local restaurant. The buffet will have traditional Peruvian food made with local ingredients.

The next part will be the visit to the Ollantaytambo Archaeological site. This is a unique complex with some eye-catching carved structures.

From here we’ll be going to the Ollantaytambo train station. Here we’ll catch the evening train to Aguas Calientes. 

The day will end in your hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Day 5Machu Picchu Exploration

No Peru tour is complete without a Machu Picchu visit. This day we’ll wake up early to take the official bus to the citadel. This is a 35 minute ride on a steep road.

Our Machu Picchu guided tour will take you to the main zones of interest in the site. You’ll learn about the Intihuatana (sundial), the temple of the 3 windows. The guided part will last for 2 hours. 

After this, you’ll have free time to explore further, go to the Sun gate, take pictures, etc. You can climb the Huaynapicchu during this time, but you need to book in advance (75 UDS extra cost per person).

This exploration will arrive at its end near midday. We’ll descend to Aguas Calientes. You’ll have time to go for lunch in town. You can explore the restaurant scene in Aguas Calientes.

For the return to Ollantaytambo, you have to be at the train station 30 minutes before departure time. The train ride will take you to Ollantaytambo. Then a private bus will take us to Cusco.

Day 6Humantay Lake Tour

We’ll pick you up at your hotel around 4:30 am. We’ll be on a 2 hour bus ride to Mollepata. 

Here we’ll have a hearty breakfast. We’ll continue to Soraypampa. Here is the trail head.

Our hike to Humantay lake is scenic and dreamy. You can observe the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay. After an hour and a half, we’ll be in front of a breathtaking lake.

If the hike is too much for you, or you want a lighter hike, you can contract a horse ride. You’ll spend time in the lake to take pictures and explore. 

We’ll return to Soraypampa to take our bus back home. In Mollepata we’ll have a stop for lunch in a local restaurant. We’ll be back at your Cusco hotel by 6:00 pm.

Day 7Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley

We’ll wake up early again. Our pick up time this day will be at 4:00 am. For the next 2 hours we’ll be traveling by bus to Cusipata. In this town we’ll have breakfast in a local restaurant. 

After one more hour of traveling. We’ll finally start the Rainbow Mountain hike. This will be a 4 km (2.5 miles) hike. On our way up we’ll have amazing views of the Surina Mountain and the VIlcanota Mountain Range.

We’ll encounter herds of llamas and alpacas. After 2 hours we’ll be at the summit of the Colores Mountain. You will have some time at the summit for exploration, photography and a rest before the descent.

We’ll take a detour to the Red valley. This adds a 30 minute walk. The red valley is well-known, but it offers some colorful terrains to appreciate. From there we’ll return to the Starting point of the trek.

Our lunch will be at Cusipata, and we’’l heading back to Cusco. Our estimated arrival time to your hotel is around 5:00 pm.

Day 8Final day

You’ll have a hotel breakfast and free time to prepare for your trip. Depending on the hour you may explore Cusco city a little more. 

Peru Ancestral Paths will make sure you will arrive on time to the airport or bus station for your return.

Before embarking on the Lima Peru Tours Package – Ica + Cusco 8D/7N, travelers should consider several important factors.

The Ideal travel time of year is the period between May to September. These months offer the best weather conditions for touring and trekking in Peru. 

Guests should also be aware of the high altitudes, especially in Cusco and surrounding areas. Acclimatization days are essential to prevent altitude sickness. But take other measures if possible.
