Itinerary

Day 1Sacred valley of the Incas

On day one we’ll go on a comprehensive tour in the Sacred valley of the Incas. The hotel pick up will be between 6 – 7 pm. Our first stop will be at Chinchero after a one hour bus drive.

In Chinchero we’ll visit the stunning colonial church with inca foundations. We’ll observe the agricultural terraces. Then we’ll go to the local textile workshop.

Our next destination is Moray. These peculiar concentric agricultural terraces were an inca laboratory. You’ll learn about how the incas developed crops here.

The Maras Salt Mines will come next. This impressive salt mine dates back from pre inca times. You’ll witness thousands of salt pools in the walls of a canyon. These mines have a communal importance that you’ll learn about.

For our lunch, we’ll go to Urubamba. Here you’ll enjoy a buffet lunch with local fresh products. Here you will be able to sample not only native fruits, but peruvian gastronomy.

After lunch, the Ollantaytambo visit will be our final stop of the day. The Ollantaytambo Archeological site is fascinating for its magnitude and structures.

From here, we’ll go to the Ollantaytambo train station. The group will take the evening train to Aguas Calientes. This train ride is scenic.

A team member will be waiting for you in the train station. You’ll spend the night in an Aguas Calientes hotel.

Day 2Machu Picchu

We’ll begin this tour early. The Unesco World Heritage Site awaits you. Our guided tour for Machu Picchu will begin with breakfast in our hotel.

The bus to Machu Picchu takes 35 minutes. We’ll arrive in the lost city of the Incas for a guided tour. This tour will take you to the best and most iconic places on the citadel. This luxury Machu Picchu tour will have enough time for you to explore on your own.

In this free time you can take picture, ascend to the Sun Gate. But you can also climb the Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, with previous booking and an extra charge of 75 UDS.

At lunch time, we’ll go back to Aguas Calientes. There you’ll choose between the variety of offers. This lunch is not included in the price, but you’ll have time to explore new flavors.

You have to be at the station 30 minutes before your departure time. You’ll go back to Ollantaytambo train station. A member of our team will be there to take you back to Cusco and your hotel.

Information

Before embarking on your Luxury Machu Picchu Tours, consider the following:

The best time to visit Machu Picchu Sacred Valley is from April to October. These months offer the driest weather, enhancing your experience of the archaeological sites and breathtaking views.

Remember, the site sits at a high altitude; Machu Picchu itself is around 2,430 meters above sea level. Acclimate yourself in Cusco or the Sacred Valley for a couple of days to prevent altitude sickness.

Safety is paramount. Always follow the guidelines provided during your guided tour of Machu Picchu. Stick to marked paths to avoid accidents on uneven terrain.

Wearing sturdy footwear is a must. You need a good grip to handle the cobblestones and steps throughout the site.

Luxury Machu Picchu Tours include most essentials, but ensure you have travel insurance. This coverage is crucial for any unexpected medical issues or travel disruptions.

Finally, respect the cultural heritage. Machu Picchu is a UNESCO World Heritage site and revered part of the Inca Empire’s history. Treat the environment with care to preserve its beauty for future visitors.
