Our journey to Machu Picchu 4 day hike begins early in the morning. Around 5:30 and 6:00 am. The pick up will be at the visitor’s hotel. We’ll travel by bus to Ollantaytambo. There we’ll have a short stop for last minute shopping. We’ll go to the trailhead by bus.
The trail head is on Piscacucho. We’ll reunite with the rest of our team. Then you’ll have to pass the control point of KM 82.
Once on the inca Trail tour, the first leg of the journey is calm. Our lunch will be on Tarayoc. From here we start our ascent to Huayllabamba. This will be our campsite for the night. That is how our Machu Picchu trek 4 days begins.
The second day on the Inca Trail trek is one of the most difficult. We’ll ascend to Dead Woman pass (Warmiwañisca). This is the highest point of the trail. Also some of the most impressive views of the trek come from here.
After passing Warmiwañisca, we’ll take the descent to Pacaymayo. On the way we’ll have visits to Inca sites. Finally we’ll arrive at our camp in Pacaymayo.
For day number 3 of the machu Picchu 4 day hike, the walking will go smoother. Almost all the way to Wiñay Wayna is downhill. Tendremos la visita a Phuyupatamarca (The town among clouds).
On the way you’ll enjoy vistas of waterfalls, the cloud forest and serene streams. We’ll camp in Wiñay Wayna. We’ll be near the end of the trail to Machu Picchu.
For the last day of our Machu Picchu trek 4 days, we’ll finally arrive at Machu Picchu. We’ll begin before the sunrise. We want to arrive at the Sun Gate (Intipunku) to witness an impressive view.
From there we’ll go down through the inca citadel. Our guide will lead us while presenting the city to us. You’ll enjoy this World’s wonder. After a few hours of visit, we’ll go to the town of Aguas Calientes.
In the evening we’ll head back to Ollantaytambo by train. Please, be at the train station 30 minutes before your departure time. In Ollantaytambo a private bus will be waiting for you. Our service is over once you are safe in you hotel in Cusco.
Machu Picchu 4 Day Hike, is a long hike in an isolated area. You need to take precautions. Book through a reputable tour operator. Only licensed operators, like us, can access the Classic Inca Trail. Also make sure to book your entrance ticket to the inca trail months in advance.
This hike requires good physical health due to its challenging nature and high altitudes. Prepare for the altitude by staying in Cusco or the Sacred Valley on previous days.
The best months for the Machu Picchu Trek 4 Days are from May to September. During these months, the weather is drier and favorable. Avoid the rainy season if possible.
During the months of february, it is impossible to book the inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The path is on renewal and maintenance work in february.
Follow all safety guidelines provided by your guide. Remember, the trail closes at 5:00 pm each day. Camping is only allowed in designated areas. Respect the sacred sites and natural surroundings.
