Itinerary

Day 1South Valley Tour Cusco

Our South Valley tour Cusco will begin at your hotel. You will be transferred in our private transport. Between 8:00 – 8:30 we’ll be at your hotel.

After 40 minutes on the South highway from Cusco, we’ll arrive in Tipon Peru. This is a small town, but we’ll be there for the inca ruins. Tipon’s incredible water channels are the main eyecatch.

The irrigation systems here are still functioning. Channeling the water from a natural spring to the surface.

A 30 minutos away is Pikillaqta (sometimes spelled Piquillacta or Pikillacta). This is one of many pre-inca sites in Peru. This shows how diverse ancient Peru was. This site from the Wari culture has a distinctive look.

After the guided tour here. We’ll go in the bus again towards Andahuaylillas Church. “The Sistine Chapel of the Americas” may look like an exaggeration. But the interior of this small town Church is a masterpiece.

The colonial architecture and art techniques mastered by indigenous artists create this temple. Also these are the bases for the Cusco School of art (escuela cusqueña). This place showcases this perfectly between the delicate paintings and gold leaf decorations.

This tour contemplates giving you the chance to try local dishes in Saylla or Huasao (this is on your own). South valley is a popular place for lunch on weekends for locals. Food here is amazing.

We’ll be goin back to Cusco by 3:00 pm.

Useful Information

Information

Before booking your South Valley Tour Cusco, consider these guidelines and facts:

The best time to visit Andahuaylillas, Pikillaqta, and Tipon Peru is during the dry season. From April to October, but with climate change, this is a little more unpredictable.

During these months mostly, there will be clear skies and milder temperatures. Good natural conditions enhance your experience. But the South Valley becomes green during the rainy season.

Remember that the altitude in Cusco and surrounding areas can affect anyone. We recommend acclimatizing in the sacred for at least two days before starting the South Valley Tour Cusco.

Stay hydrated throughout the day and wear sunscreen. The sun at high altitudes can be particularly strong (high UV radiation).

For safety, always follow the guidance of your tour leader, especially when exploring archaeological sites.

Lastly, secure your belongings. While the tour areas are generally safe, keeping an eye on personal items is always wise.

Enjoy your trip to Andahuaylillas,  Pikillaqta and Tipon Peru!
