Your adventure starts as we welcome you at the Cusco airport. We will transfer you to your hotel. You can settle in and prepare for the days ahead. Rest well for the upcoming travel.

We will travel from Cusco to the train station at Ollantaytambo. A scenic train ride will then carry you to Aguas Calientes.

Itinerary

Day 1Airport Reception and Hotel Transfer

For your arrival to Cusco, our team will be waiting for you at the airport. Peru Ancestral paths will take care of your transportations for your hotel.

In your hotel you can rest, and use the amenities. Depending on the hour of your arrival you can explore the city center. The city of Cusco, in particular the city center, has tons of life during the whole day. But we recommend you rest early for the activities of the next day.

Day 2Tour Machu Picchu Full Day

The Cusco to Machu Picchu tour behind really early in the morning. At 3:00 am the hotel pick up will begin. But if you decide on a later pick up we can arrange that for you.

We’ll travel through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo we’ll go to the Train station to take the train to Ollantaytambo. During this 2 hour train ride you’ll see the natural beauty of the Cusco region. 

In Aguas Calientes you’ll meet your guides. The guide will give a briefing to prepare su for what comes next. We’ll take the Bus to the Inca citadel. 

35 minutes later, we’ll be at the entrance of Machu Picchu. Here, the tour guide will lead the way across this immense city. Machu Picchu will surprise you. Our tour includes all the main sites.

The nature around Machu Picchu is as impressive as the Archeological site. The visit to Machu Picchu is amazing. This makes the Machu Picchu Rainbow Mountain tour.

After the main tour (2 hours approximately), you’ll have free exploration. By lunch time we’ll be back at Aguas Calientes. You’ll have time to explore the Aguas Calientes Town and its restaurants (this lunch is not included). 

We’ll return to Cusco by taking the evening train to Ollantaytambo. In Ollantaytambo a private transport will be waiting for you. After the one hour and 45 minutes of bus ride, you’ll arrive at your Hotel in Cusco.

Rest well for the night. Peru Ancestral Paths still have a lot of adventures for you.

Day 3Humantay Lake Tour

Our Humantay Lake tour will begin with the hotel pick up. At 4:30 am, we’ll be arriving for you. We’ll travel for 2 hours to Mollepata town.

We are getting closer to the Salkantay Trek route. In Mollepata we’ll have breakfast in a local restaurant. We’ll continue our road trip until we reach Soraypampa. In Soray pampa is the trailhead.

The hike to Humantay Lake is full of natural beauty. From the trail you can observe the Salkantay and the Humantay snow-capped mountains. The ascent to Lake Humantay takes about one and a half hours. 

For an easy ascent you can rent a horse on the site (extra cost). This is an option for accessibility. The hike is considerate of moderate challenge level.

Once you reach the lake, you’ll be amazed. The Lake is one of the most magnificent views of the Andes. We’ll perform a ritual offering to the Apus (Sacred Mountains). You’ll have time to explore, take pictures and rest.

The descent is easier on the travelers, so it takes about one hour. Once we’re back at Soraypampa, we’ll take our transport.

Lunch will be at a stop in Mollepata. A local restaurant will take care of the food. After lunch we’ll continue the trip back to Cusco and to your hotel. Our return will be complete by 6 pm.

We highly recommend you to rest early. 

Day 4Rainbow Mountain Hike and Final Airport Transfer.

On our last day of this Machu Picchu Rainbow Mountain tour, we’ll hike. The hotel pick up will happen at 4 am. We’ll travel on our private bus to Cusipata for breakfast in a local restaurant.

After Breakfast, we’re ready to head on. After one more hour of bus travel we’ll start the hike to Rainbow Mountain. This is a 4 km/ 2.49 miles hike.

During the ascent you will encounter views of the Surina Mountain and the Vilcanota Mountain range. You may encounter some andean fauna. 

At the summit you’ll have time to take pictures, enjoy the view and to rest. The colors of the Rainbow Mountain make a magical landscape. 

From here we’ll take the 30 minutes walk to the Red Valley. This extra detour offers a series of new landscapes with peculiar colors. 

After the descent we’ll return to the bus. On the return drive to Cusco we’ll have lunch during a stop in a local restaurant.

Finally we’ll be at Cusco by 5 pm. After which, we’ll assist you on the last Airport transfer before the end of our services
