Our day tour will immerse you in breathtaking nature. You will hike to Humantay Lake. This place is a jewel among the Andean peaks. 

We will leave Cusco early in the morning to start our adventure. Your journey begins with a scenic two-hour drive to the town of Mollepata. Here, you can buy snacks and prepare for the hike. 

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on the hike to Humantay Lake. The trek takes you through unbelievable landscapes. Every step brings you closer to the vivid turquoise waters of Laguna Humantay.

The hike to Humantay Lake involves a steady climb. The trail is ideal for those properly acclimatized to high altitude. As we reach the lake, you will enjoy some of the most spectacular views Peru has to offer. 

We will provide breakfast and lunch, so you have the energy needed for this day hike. The hike itself takes around 2 hours, but the vistas make it interesting.

Our guides will lead you safely on this memorable excursion. Your guide will offer insights into the local high altitude flora and fauna.

Itinerary

Day 1Laguna Humantay Lake Humantay Tour

Peru Ancestral Paths will take you to the beautiful Humantay Lake. We’ll be picking you up early in the morning, at 4:30 am. Our travel begins with a 2-hour drive in our private transport. We’ll arrive in Mollepata town to have a nutritious breakfast. 

We’ll continue on the road for one more hour until we reach Soraypampa. This will be where the hike to Lake Humantay begins. 

The ascent offers some amazon views. From the trail you can get amazon views of the Salkantay and Humantay sacred mountains. The ascent takes around one hour. 

If the ascent is too hard, or you want to have a more relaxing day tour, you can contract a horse. In the place there are horses ready for rental during the ascent (not included in the price).  

This walk is of moderate difficulty. But even in the steep and rugged terrain, the challenge of the hike to Humanya Lake is worth it. Laguna Humantay is one of the prettiest Lakes in South America. 

Humantay Lake Peru is a magical destiny. The location is perfect for photography. The views are truly magnificent. The experience gets magical with a traditional offering to the mountains.

After the appropriate exploration time in Lake Humantay Peru, we’ll descend. Our day hike is coming to an end. The descent is easier and faster. Once we reach Soraypampa we’ll take our transport to return to Mollepata.

In the town of Mollepata, in a local restaurant we’ll have lunch. Our return to Cusco will be at 6:30 pm, approximately. We hope your experience in Lake Humantay will be amazing.

Before you embark on the Humantay Lake Peru tour, consider a few important guidelines and facts. The best time to visit Humantay Lake is during the dry season, from May to October. This period offers clearer skies and safer conditions to hike. 

Start the day early in the morning to reach the lake before midday, avoiding afternoon clouds.

The tour begins with a two-hour drive from Cusco to the town of Mollepata. Ensure you’re properly acclimatized to high altitude before you hike to Humantay Lake.

The Laguna Humantay trek reaches 4,200 meters (13,780 ft). Altitude sickness is a risk and can affect anyone, regardless of fitness level.

Carry water, snacks, and sun protection, and dress in layers for changing weather. Always follow the guide’s instructions and stay on marked paths to ensure your safety during the hike to Laguna Humantay.
