Itinerary

Day 1Ausangate 7 Lakes Day Trip

Peru Ancestral Paths will be picking you up in the hotel you are staying. This will be around 4:30 am. We’ll go on our private transport to Pacchanta. This is the first step on our 7 Lakes of Ausangate Hike.

There a local family will provide a traditional breakfast. Onec full of energy, we can continue to the 7 Lakes.

During the bus ride you’ll enjoy views of glaciers and snow capped mountains. Including the Ausangate from afar. This Ausangate full day trip is highly scenic. 

After starting the hiking part in this day’s trek, we’ll be walking for 5 hours. Each lake we’ll be visiting is unique. 

Azul Qocha, Puca Qocha, Alqa Qocha, and Q’omer Qocha are famous for its colors. The colors vary from deep blue to green and turquoise. Some of these colorful lakes have their disting color under specific circumstances.

Others like Otorongo, Orqo Otorongo and China Otorongo, are big water mirrors. Their views are stunning with the Peruvian Andes as a background.

We will also encounter andean lake birds. Alpacas and llamas will be around us, as well as other farm animals. With some luck in the early morning we may encounter the elusive Vizcacha, the andean hare.

After this we’ll go back to Pacchanta town. There we’ll have lunch in the community. 

For the final activity of the day we’ll visit the hot springs. Relax your muscles after the hike. We’ll be back at cusco by 7:30 pm.

The best time to visit is during the months of May to September. During these months, you’ll experience drier conditions. Avoid the rainy season from November to March as trails may be slippery.

For safety, acclimate to high altitudes in Cusco for at least two days. This helps prevent altitude sickness. Always follow your tour guide’s instructions during the Ausangate 7 Lakes hike.

Remember, the 7 Lakes of Ausangate hike reaches high elevations. It demands good physical condition. Drink plenty of water and wear sun protection.
